Mission

Since it was established in 2007, the “En Classe” foundation has had the following mission:

"To give children a chance at a better future
by improving the learning conditions of schools in Kinshasa".

In the past five years, the “En Classe” foundation has worked hard to improve the learning conditions of 10 elementary schools in Kinshasa. Now almost 10,000 children enjoy better conditions while at school. Yet there is still much room for improvement. For the next two years, as of Jan 1, 2012, the "En Classe" foundation has decided to continue improving these 10 schools and to that end, the following 6 issues will be given the highest priority:

  1. The building
    2. The school building must be in good condition. Read more.....

  2. Furniture and educational material for children and teachers
    3. Often the children sit on the floor because of a lack of chairs and tables and blackboards can not be used anymore. Read more.....

  3. Safety
    4. At the moment many school grounds are open to the public and used as a throughway. Read more.....

  4. Water and Sanitation
    5. The children and teachers need to be able to go to separate boys and girls bathrooms while at school. Read more.....

  5. Garbage
    6. The “En Classe” foundation would like to contribute to keeping classrooms and school grounds clean and tidy. Read more.....

  6. Maintenance
    7. It is very important that the schools be well-maintained. Read more.....

    Last but not least, the "En Classe" foundation will expand four of her existing elementary schools with (better) secondary schools so that the children currently attending them can continue their education.
